| There is an arts festival in Sozopol every September. The town becomes very busy and exhibitions fill the churches, courtyards & gardens and modern installations. There is a vast array of visual art, and jazz, classical music and ballet. There are various museums hosting wonderful jewellery, vases, amphorae and anchors. | ||||||||||||||||||
You can take an organised boat trip down the coast, hire a traditional fishing boat or simply relax on the magnificent local sandy beaches.
There are two main beaches - one in front of the town gardens, in the centre of the resort, and another at the far end of the new town. The sand is fine and golden. There are some amazing views over the bay, south back
over the sea and to the Standja mountains. The climate here, some 30km south of Bourgas and towards the Greek mainland, is less mild than the northern coast, and summers are hot and winters windy.
