Front of house

This authentic 2 storey house is situated in the Stara Planina (Balkan Range) in a quiet village not far from the towns of Maglij and Kazanlak, near to Stara Zagora (see map). A few minutes north west or north east will take you into Gabrovo or Veliko Tarnovo county. The climate is extremely mild and very suitable for rural tourism. There is a river and mountain spring some 10 meters from the property.

The village itself dates back to the 14th century. It is said that Tsarski vrah (King’s peak) near the village is related to a battle in 335 B.C. between Alexander the Great and a local Thracian king during his campaign against the Thracian tribe Tribali in Moesia. During the last 30 years the village has developed as a villa and recreation zone. There are hotels nearby, many tourist routs towards Balkan Range’s peaks, and a cave. There are a couple of small ski pistes nearby.

The house was built in 1919 with a tile-stone roof and timber ceilings, and is in excellent condition, needing only cosmetic repairs. It is unfurnished. On the ground floor there are premises with stone walls and a timber ceiling suitable for a folk-style tavern. On the second floor there is a bedroom, living room with a fireplace, dining room, bathroom and a toilet.
